I LOVED seeing the beautiful coloured middle page (CL 17/1/10) of the statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Queen of Peace, with the silhouette of St James’ Church behind, in Medjugorje.
My fellow parishioner Patricia and I were very fortunate to go on the Harvest Pilgrimage to Medjugorje last June.
We were the only two Australians on tour, and we were lucky enough to be there to celebrate the 28th anniversary of Our Lady’s daily appearances, together with tens of thousands of other pilgrims of all nationalities.
I found your travel writer’s article about his visit to Medjugorje to be cynical in outlook, indifferent and detracting from the true message of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
I have seen a short film of one of the visionaries, Mirjana, saying the Rosary with hundreds of other people in an auditorium when suddenly she is visited by the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The message is always the same – we need to pray more, to fast, read Scripture, go to regular Mass and Communion and Reconciliation.
Our Lady is telling us there is a God – come back to him.
Surely the reason why Our Lady has been appearing for so long is because we are such a sinful world and don’t want to listen.
We are too much about doing our own thing.
