Obligation on Church to speak up

by Staff writers

RE “We get the politicians we deserve” (Opinion, CL 15/4/12), I must take issue with Don Gaffney and his premature condemnation of the LNP administration, elected by a significant majority of Queenslanders.

The public jury considered the contempt for the electorates illustrated by the entrenched Labor administration to be intolerable, regardless of several decent individuals providing fair performances.

Forget the opinions expressed in the secular press that you quoted as being “spot on”, Don.

Give this new group we have elected a chance to perform.
Very particularly, be aware, and remind your local member that they are foremost “your representative”, not the party machine’s.

Therefore the obligation is on each of us, including the Church spokespersons, to communicate issues upon which “representation” is expected.

TOM KING
Brisbane, Qld
