IN thanking Fr Ron Perrett for his valuable contribution (CL, 8/2/2009), I feel he clearly errs in one aspect.
We saw that Pope Benedict sent a diplomatic message to President Obama on his election.
One speculates the saintly, yet so unjustly and consistently calumniated, Pope Pius XII might also rather more publicly have expressed feelings of unease!
Thus, one can almost excuse Fr Perrett for his enthusiasm, which Pope Benedict did not apparently show to any noticeable extent, about President Obama’s election.
Loath though one generally is to criticise the clergy in any way, it does seem a very great pity that Fr Perrett and millions like him, and media propaganda and distortion must take most of the blame appear quite incapable of seeing past the new president’s skin colour, through to the transparent, mega-funded and scandalously pro-abortion policies of his minders, which unsurprisingly he has wasted no time in enunciating and, rather tragically, setting about implementing.
