WE can be thankful that the St Vincent de Paul Society is always there for the people who can easily be forgotten.
This time the organisation is drawing our attention to a growing number people who are doing it tough in rural parts of Queensland (Page 3).
In typical Vinnies fashion, though, they are not just pointing out a problem – they’re doing something about it. They’re trying to help out by building low-cost housing.
The rest of the Church and the broader community would do well to support them wherever possible in this practical move.
With dwindling numbers of volunteers and members in those rural areas, it sounds like Vinnies could do with all the help they can get on the ground as well.
