AUSTRALIA is a long way from Nigeria, but for at least the next three years, a group from this distant African country will call Brisbane home.
The four Nigerians are studying at Holy Spirit Seminary in Brisbane under an initiative that will bring a new cultural and faith insight to Catholics in the archdiocese and, in return, will help the Nigerians in their training for the priesthood.
These four seminarians will be joined by two Nigerian priests in coming weeks.
For the ordinary person in the pews it will mean an immediate alleviation of the shortage of priests in south-east Queensland, a positive impact that should be applauded by every church-goer.
