DESPITE Church teaching to the contrary, for some four decades the contraceptive pill has been seen as a simple and safe way to control the risk of pregnancy.
Past research has questioned the Pill’s safety, but it has been largely pushed to the side in the debate whether it is right or wrong for women to take the contraceptive.
New research from the United States shows the Pill has a long-term effect on women’s libido levels and has been linked to sexual dysfunction.
While this finding will probably be forgotten by most people in a few months, it adds to the Church’s argument that artificially interfering with the normal cycle of life is not in the best interests of the woman and the God-given potential for creating new life.
