AS a 31-year-old, I have to say, what a moving read last Sunday’s (3/4/11) Catholic Leader was – I actually had tears well up in my eyes more than once as I had my usual coffee and Catholic Leader fix after Mass.
Beginning with the stunning pictures and article on the occasion of Archbishop Bathersby’s Mass of Thanksgiving – in that case, they were tears of gratitude that I have been able to meet and be spiritually impacted by this great man, in my relatively short time in this archdiocese – PRAY2010 being my first awareness of the Archbishop.
Then, tears of sadness reading of the passing of Fr Kevin Ryan on Page 2 and again for the beautiful obituary by Greg Sunter on page 23.
However I finished with a smile, for the back-page article bought admiration and awe – what a fabulous idea the Girls Day In at Assisi College was.
I will be passing this story on to my old Catholic secondary school back in New Zealand!
I’m thankful for the thoughtful, solid and inspiring newspaper you publish each week.
