IN the past week we could have been caught up in wondering how we would fare under the first Federal Budget of the new Labor Government – would we be better off or not?
But our concerns pale into insignificance when we follow the human tragedy unfolding in Burma (Myanmar). The scale of the disaster is unimaginable as we try to put ourselves in the shoes of the Burmese people.
Immediately, governments, aid organisations and Church groups have responded by launching appeals.
And with the UN estimating that as many as 2 million Burmese people could be at risk of starvation, the best we can do is join the rush to give – and pray.
