WHEN it comes to discussion on ensuring a “fair go” for pensioners, Catholic Social Services Australia (CSSA) can speak with some authority.
Agencies that make up its membership are dealing with people who are most vulnerable and disadvantaged at a grassroots level.
In their day-to-day dealings with pensioners and their families, they would have a good idea of what was fair and what was unfair.
The CSSA’s recommendation for an independent Entitlements Commission to take the politics out of reviews of welfare payments sounds like good sense.
Let’s hope the politicians take notice.
