Elizabeth Harrington was correct in saying that the traditional Latin Mass of the Council of Trent was not banned by the Second Vatican Council (Liturgy Lines, 6/5/2007).
It was, however, outlawed in no uncertain terms by Pope Paul VI in the wake of Vatican II.
Those of us who loved, and still love the sublime reverence and majesty of the old rite continue to pray that the long awaited Motu Proprio of Pope Benedict XVI, allowing freer use of the Tridentine Mass, will soon become reality rather than rumour.
