I WAS delighted to read Selina Venier’s Family Faith column in the July 8 issue of The Catholic Leader.
With some minor biographical details altered, I could easily and willingly have put my own name to the contents expressed therein.
The promulgation of the new English translation of the Roman Missal is a prime opportunity for all involved in the preparation of the Sacred Liturgy to re-evaluate the way we celebrate.
A careful study of the General Instruction of the Roman Missal, and other recent papal teaching and curial documents – together with a willingness to change and try different things – can lead to a more dignified and prayerful celebration of the liturgy, carried out in the way the Church intends.
I hope and pray that this moment of opportunity for intensified liturgical renewal is taken up with enthusiasm in all the parishes of our archdiocese.
