FIRSTLY, this explanation is only my opinion as I am not claiming to be right.
But it would be interesting to hear the opinion of such learned men as regular letter-writers Vince Hodge, Don Gaffney, Richard Tiainen and others, as I am not a theologian.
What prompted me to write is an element creeping into some Catholic circles that all the churches are the same.
I have been asked for my version which is I do not agree but am not claiming to be right.
When Jesus was preaching to a crowd he said, “you will drink my blood and eat my flesh”.
Many said he was mad and walked away, but Peter had the faith, and said “where do we go Lord?”
Jesus answered “I am the way, the truth and the life”.
Then he showed that at the Last Supper.
Catholics believe in the True Presence but other churches believe the bread and wine are only symbols.
Therein lies the difference.
Jesus said, “When you eat my flesh and drink my blood you will live forever.”
I plead that my name be not published as I do not wish to stir up or offend anyone.
But all churches are not the same (in my opinion) because we believe in the True Presence not that the Eucharist is only a symbol.
