THE tragic death of Morgan Innes in a Sydney Harbour boating accident has nipped short a promising young life and ripped the heart out of her family, friends and colleagues at Lourdes Hill College, Hawthorne.
This sort of seemingly senseless loss in a freak incident is always difficult to comprehend. What is certain is that God offers his comfort to those who come to him in times of loss. By turning to him we can be assured that, even in death, there is life and hope.
This is also the message of Christ’s resurrection at Easter, where he gave his life in tragic circumstances that we might be saved. Even in tragedy, we must not forget the promise of eternal life that only God can give.
