WHOEVER doubted Canberra had a heart and soul would have been amazed by the way the people of the national capital rallied to support their neighbours in the aftermath of the ACT’s worst fire disaster in history.
The firestorms that hit the city’s outer suburbs engulfed the homes of many of those same people who later selflessly worked around the clock to assist those less fortunate.
The Christian spirit and charity that emerged is an example to all of us.
It brought the compassion of Christ to family, friends and complete strangers alike.
The prayers of all Australians are with the people of Canberra this weekend as they try to rebuild their lives following this tragedy.
