THE Olympics are almost over and Australian athletes have done the country proud.
But along the way there have been some truly inspiring stories among the athletes from every corner of the world.
Stories such as the one of the swimmer from Equatorial Guinea who swam his own race to victory and the members of the small team from East Timor who were content just to be able to compete as independent athletes.
These stories are the ones which may not make the record books, but they are part of the philosophy behind the modern Games which began a century ago.
Australians have played a big part in making these Olympics the Games the world will remember for decades to come.
God was surely more than just a spectator.
