CATHOLIC Church leaders, and presumably the majority of Catholics in Australia, are pleased with the way the country’s immigration policy has headed in recent times with regards to treatment of asylum seekers.
And some of them are rightly concerned about any attempt to turn that around towards policies that would deliver harsh and inhuman treatment to asylum seekers.
Applying the golden rule we need only ask ourselves what we would hope for if we were fleeing war or persecution in our homeland to the point of risking our lives and the lives of our children to seek freedom in a foreign land at the end of a dangerous and illegal boat ride.
