OFTEN it is the little things in life that will be remembered many years later.
Sometimes it is a thank you, a smile or a simple act of kindness. People will often assess who we are and who represent less than a minute after meeting us.
So if we are truly to represent Christ, we need to be aware of the image we are presenting to others.
Religious education teachers who volunteer to go into state school classrooms play an important role in presenting the image of Christ.
They do a marvellous ambassadorial job in bringing Christ to the little ones, many of whom hardly know him.
The faith, actions and words of the religious education teacher may not necessarily make an impact today, but who knows, in years to come, some trigger may help the now mature person to recall the Good News message that they heard and to know that there is a God they can turn to in times of need.
If only more Catholics would consider volunteering to be RE teachers in state schools.
