ONE of the highlights of the comprehensive edition of The Catholic Leader of July 29 was the contribution made by Brenda Paul’s interview with retired priest Fr Harry Bliss.
The review of life was well researched and presented in a most readable manner.
What particularly interested me was the fact that Fr Bliss contributes a fortnightly article for publication in the Clergy Bulletin.
Perhaps the editor of The Catholic Leader might invite Fr Harry to contribute a monthly article for publication in the paper.
One subject that demands expansion by a committed Catholic priest possessed of worldly and practical communication skills would be the need for the complacent elements within our Church family to support our limited Catholic publications by purchasing The Catholic Leader with the same consistency they support the secular press who devote so little attention to Christian society.
I am sure Fr Bliss could expand on the consequences that history confirms have applied to Christians and their religious freedoms when the limited media voice was silenced, either by oppressors or by the failure of the faithful to support and contribute to the media avenues that provided a political and public perception of the Church perspectives and Christian opinions.
