IT is great to see the true Australian spirit of a “fair go” come to the fore in the way some members of our community are responding to asylum seekers and refugees (Page 1).
Such generosity and compassion counters the negativity and mean-spiritedness that has tended to dominate public debate on this area in recent years.
People so keen to welcome the “strangers” turning to Australia in desperation offer practical leadership for our politicians and the rest of us.
And Khoa Do’s story on Page 24 emphasises why we need more of that kind of leadership.
