AFTER the Federal Parliamentary vote against gay (homosexual) marriage, ABC TV’s Q&A program (24/9/12), delivered its own vote in favour of homosexual marriage.
Of the six members of the panel, including the moderator Tony Jones, only one, Federal Liberal Member of Parliament Kelly O’Dwyer, indicated supporting the parliamentary vote.
Over the life of this Q&A program, there seems to be a penchant for persons on the panel who are left of centre on moral and social issues and who by their ethical relativisms on such questions are presented as representing a consensus of views for the rest of the community.
It is hard to believe that these celebrities are representatives of our communities.
If they are not; one must ask the question why not?
The point, of course, is that the rest of the community are exposed to libertarian views on these serious issues, as supposedly being a consensual reflection of the community.
And with no countervailing opinions or traditional values being offered, such muzzling of freedom of speech, by a public instrumentality as the ABC, is not only discriminatory but will in our democratic society lead to the control of the majority by an oligarchic minority of elites.
