“LOVE one another and be kind to one another” – that was the advice of Bryan Doyle, who celebrated 65 years of marriage with his wife Patricia (nee Devitt) on Easter Monday, April 11.
The couple married at St Mary’s Church, Warwick in 1955 and had four children – Sandra, Vicki, Glen and Shane; eight grandchildren – Matthew, Nathan, Joel, Kayla, Alannah, Lachlan, Olivia, Miranda; and one great grandchild – Edward.
“They’re bloody beautiful children, too, they are,” Mr Doyle said.
“I think we’ve raised a magnificent family and you can’t do much better than that.
“That was brought about because we both had great parents ourselves.”
Mrs Doyle had worked in a lady’s frock shop while Mr Doyle worked with Queensland Railways, where he worked in Warwick, Townsville, Toowoomba, Cairns, Maryborough, Emerald and Brisbane from 1948 to 1994.
Mr and Mrs Doyle met through the church and dances in Warwick, where they both grew up.
At the time, Mr Doyle belonged to Young Christian Workers.
Church remained a solid rock throughout their marriage.
“I’ve always been solid in my beliefs and so has (Patricia), I think you’d term us pretty good Catholics,” he said.
The couple enjoyed a small get together for their anniversary.
