COMMONWEALTH Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) delegates will be gathering in the lap of luxury on the Sunshine Coast this weekend.
Millions of dollars will be spent hosting the hundreds of official visitors and their staff.
Meanwhile, back at home in some of the countries from which these delegates are coming, countless ordinary people will be struggling to provide a meal on the table for their families.
Will the leaders of these countries spare a thought for the welfare of their people?
Let’s hope the CHOGM leaders heed the worldwide calls of protest and the issue of Third World poverty is given the attention it deserves at this important gathering.
