Following the excitement of World Youth Day 2008, the Church in Brisbane is fortunate to have another special reason to celebrate – its sesquicentenary, or 150th anniversary.
Although this celebration will not match WYD08 for intensity or magnitude, it is nevertheless a chance for us to identify and hold up what is best about the Church in Brisbane and to honour the memory of those who have handed on to us the gift of faith.
As well as events staged at an archdiocesan level, each parish will have the chance to celebrate in its own unique way, and these will be just as important, if not more so.
