WE’VE just celebrated National Reconciliation Week (May 27-June 3) in the year following euphoria over the Prime Minister’s apology to indigenous Australians.
Now indigenous Church leaders are challenging the new Government to live up to those ideals in the way it handles a review of the Northern Territory Emergency Response (page 1).
At the root of their concerns is that they want the Gov-ernment to listen to what indigenous people have to say about the Intervention.
It would be the least that could be done in living up to the sentiments of the apology.
It’s a challenge for all of us to show how fair dinkum we are.
