CATHOLICS will have a rare opportunity to have their say about the future direction of the Brisbane archdiocesan Church when the consultation stage of the 2003 Synod is launched on Pentecost Sunday.
Archbishop John Bathersby is keen to hear the many and varied views of the people. There is a great wealth of ideas in the community on how the Church can undertake its evangelising mission in the 21st century.
There will be many opportunities to voice these ideas during the next 10 months, either through parishes, schools or other meetings which will be called.
Considering there are more than 500,000 Catholics in the archdiocese this is a major undertaking, but one which will prove valuable in setting a course for the future growth of the Brisbane Church.
