IT’S a sad thought, but in today’s consumer-driven world, more people congregate in shopping centres than in church.
So it makes a lot of sense to take the Good News to where the people are.
That’s the idea behind a new advertising campaign by the Church in Brisbane.
Posters featuring a photographic mosaic and revealing the crucified face of Jesus appeared in four south-east Queensland shopping centres last week, and will be on display until after Easter.
While most shops are cluttered with displays of Easter bunnies, these posters are a reminder of the real reason the world celebrates this significant event in history.
Jesus was always present among the ordinary people when he walked this earth. He was often criticised for doing so.
The poster campaign in shopping centres should be a reminder that perhaps the Church should increase its presence in the places where people are flocking in the 21st century.
