HUNDREDS of excited student leaders from across Brisbane archdiocese descended on the Powerhouse for an inspirational day of spiritual formation and leadership.

The 400 young leaders gathered to hear from a stunning line-up of inspiring guest speakers who encouraged them to go out and Live Louder – Live Life to the Full, the theme for the 2015 Powerhouse of Leaders.

In its sixth year, Powerhouse of Leaders offers student leaders an opportunity to come together in one place and be inspired by contemporary leaders so they too can go out into the world and make a difference.

Keynote speaker environmentalist, lecturer, writer and Australian Youth Climate Coalition chair Anna Rose spoke about her experience of living life “louder” and changing minds about the reality of climate change, and Christian singer-songwriter Gary Pinto encouraged the young leaders to not waste their God-given talents.

Brisbane Archbishop Mark Coleridge said the Powerhouse of Leaders was a crucial gathering not only because the participants were school leaders, but also because they were the leaders of the future.

Catholic schools and colleges are welcoming communities where every student is given the opportunity to experience success by reaching his or her full potential in all aspects of school life.

Students are seen as active participants in the learning process, and their spiritual, physical, emotional and social development is of equal importance, with teachers being aware of the wide variation of stages of development within any one group of students.

Students excel in a variety of cultural pursuits such as singing, instrumental music, choirs, bands, drama and sports.

In the sporting arena, students achieve representation at state, national and international levels in numerous sports.

Many students gain scholarships to university while others move on to a wide variety of professional and technical careers.
