BRISBANE-based ministry Real Talk has become one of Australia’s leading specialists in speaking about the topics of relationships, personal identity and sex. The dynamic ministry has now worked in around 100 schools across Australia, with presentations generating real change in the young people who participate.

One retreatant said they were “inspired” by a Real Talk presentation at their school.  “You have made me think deeper about my future decisions, and my reasoning for being where I am,” they said.

“You have inspired me to stay true to myself, stand up for what I believe and to know and love who I am.”

Directors Paul Ninnes and Kym Keady commented on the growth of Real Talk in only a few short years.

“In a sexualized, saturated culture, there’s a real need for this topic to be addressed effectively,” they said.

“We use a multi modal presentation and speak honestly and vulnerably about our own stories to relate to the teenagers where they are at in their lives.”

Real Talk has also trained seven presenters to be part of the Real Talk team, as well as new part time staff members and volunteers to help run the business side of the ministry.

This year, Real Talk will travel to Adelaide diocese for the first time, as well as Perth, Ballarat and New Zealand.

The team will return to many locations around Queensland, NSW and Victoria.

Real Talk’s directors said they would love to see more Brisbane schools utilising their presentations and resources.
