NET (National Evangelisation Teams) Ministries is offering an opportunity that, until this year, has been uncharted territory for the organisation.

Two new teams, called Freedom Launch Teams were established, and placed at University of Queensland in Brisbane, and Mannix College, Monash University, in Melbourne.

These teams have been called to reach out to students and help raise the Catholic identity on campus.

Since being assigned this mission the teams have reached out to more than 200 students, and have established eight weekly faith studies in which students are able to ask more questions about the Catholic faith and build on their relationship with Jesus.

The teams also host a range of events such as weekly Rosary and Adoration, daily Mass, praise and worship, and much more.

They are challenged daily to go out into the university and share their faith with people who have a range of beliefs.

Team members said that, through this outreach, they have experienced substantial growth in their own faith.

“Our teams have made many new friends and seek to form a strong Catholic community where people feel comfortable to come and hang out without fear of judgment or exclusion, which can be so prevalent in today’s society,” a Brisbane team spokesperson said.

“We believe social norms are being overturned and the presence of our team is helping to pave the way for students to connect with each other in a space that encourages their Catholic beliefs, values and expression.

“We are really excited to continue this journey and take it to new levels when we join with an even broader team and host a training event – Training for Missionary Disciples – from June 26-30 at ACU Banyo.”
