CATHOLIC educators in Queensland are using Catholic Education Week (July 27-August 2) as an opportunity to follow Christ’s challenge to live life to the full.

This year’s Catholic Education Week theme is “Come, live life in all its fullness”.

Queensland Catholic Education Commission executive director Mike Byrne said the 2014 theme confirmed the nature of Catholic education today.

“Reflecting this Gospel call, Catholic schools strive to provide a learning experience through which every young person has the opportunity to reach their full human potential – spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially, culturally and physically – and know what it means to engage in all that life has to offer,” Mr Byrne said.

Archbishop Mark Coleridge will officially launch Catholic Education Week 2014 in Queensland on Wednesday, July 30.

The launch will be part of a celebration to be attended by about 500 students, teachers, parents and friends of Catholic education from across the state.

It will be held at the Edmund Rice Performing Arts Centre, St Laurence’s College, South Brisbane, at 11am.

Queensland Premier Campbell Newman will present the Spirit of Catholic Education Awards on the occasion and, along with Minister for Education, Training and Employment John-Paul Langbroek, will deliver an address.
