PLEASE accept my deep admiration for the way you have delivered the most comprehensive reporting I have seen for a long while with a diversity of subject but all of which are supremely relevant to our Church; undergoing at one end of the spectrum crises, persecution and enormous challenges and the other an enthusiastic renewal especially from some of our young people.
It has given me enormous encouragement at my age to read your newspaper every Sunday cover to cover.
I would have missed the Ormiston Carmel major 500 years celebration had I not read your paper.
Also the column by Steve Jorgensen concerning his work with the refugees and their desperate plight was so well written and with such intelligence, the man impressed me as much as the subject he was drawing to our attention.
I would like to hear more from him on a regular basis. I think he has a lot to offer.
You should be aware of the great gift you are to the Catholic Church. I hope this letter helps you to understand that.
Some of us hang on the precipice of despondency, almost toppling over through exhaustion; not having evidence at a family level or sometimes at parish level of the vibrancy of the Church – other than what we hear of Pope Francis and others keeping the Gospel Truths alive.
May God continue to bless you not just with journalism awards but with His own rewards for as “The Truth will set us free” you are one of the surest means we have of keeping the Truth manifested to us and by passing on your paper we can evangelise to those who only hear about the negatives of the Church in secular circles.
