A SIMPLE definition of democracy is government by the people, for the people.
In a large democracy like ours we elect people, according to areas to speak and work for us.
We give them our trust that they share the best interests of their people.
We entrust to them all the monies that are collected from the people for the smooth running of our communities.
These monies have to go a long way and these representatives of ours are entrusted by us, the people, to be good managers of our money.
If, indeed, the budget is in such crisis as we are led to believe, then the blame is with the money mangers, those, we the people elected to represent us.
It is certainly not the fault of the disabled, the elderly, nor is it the fault of the sick.
These, our trusted representatives, might take these words of sage of antiquity to heart.
