THE 18 August issue of The Catholic Leader delighted me.
Inspiring, indeed, it was to read about the nuns, Benedictines of Mary, Queen of the Apostles and their successes in recording traditional music – unaccompanied pieces in both Latin and English.
These young nuns gained No. 1 spot on the Billboard Classical Music Chart for 13 consecutive weeks.
A peep into Google revealed that the sisters wear the traditional habit.
Also, the focus of the interior of their church was a magnificent altar, one that would inspire reverence, with that altar having before it traditional Communion rails.
I was reminded of the particularly youthful congregation at St Joseph’s, Kangaroo Point, where families, couples and individuals are drawn by the inspiration which I am sure is evoked by a high regard for creating a truly reverential atmosphere, the source undoubtedly linked to the emphasis on tradition.
