YOUTH and Aboriginal people featured in Sir William and Lady Helen Deane’s farewell from the Governor-General’s Canberra residence, “Yarralumla”, on June 28.
Sir William shared his last official lunch at “Yarralumla” with guests from Youth Off the Streets (YOTS) and their mentor Salesian Father Chris Riley.
Fr Riley runs the ministry for disadvantaged youth on a farm in Sydney’s west.
Sir William is patron of YOTS and when he and Lady Helen return from a holiday in France they will work with disadvantaged children through the program.
They will live in a Canberra townhouse and attend Mass at St Christopher’s Cathedral.
