FIVE National Evangelisation Teams (NET) Ministries Australia groups were commissioned in Brisbane on February 15.
The teams were commissioned with the blessing of Brisbane Archbishop John Bathersby, who concelebrated Mass with archdiocesan Moderator Fr Peter Meneely, Jubilee parish priest Fr Peter Brannelly and Fr Jim Smith from Catholic Psychiatric Pastoral Care.
This year’s group of 34 young people will share the Good News across Australia, working in a number of locations including Brisbane archdiocese’s World Youth Day 08 Secretariat, Orange Parish in Bathurst diocese and the Melbourne archdiocesan Catholic Youth Ministry office.
The national team will travel from Cairns to Perth sharing stories of faith with more than 11,000 young people.
Archbishop Bathersby invited the “Netters” to encourage young people to love Christ and embrace the Church.
Paul Ninnes from Brisbane, who is serving on the national team, responded to the archbishop’s address, saying, “We will set fire sparks all over this nation that will ignite and reclaim the Great Southland of the Holy Spirit”.
