LITERATURE Week was a page-turning event for students of Mt St Michaels, Ashgrove.
“The Write Connection” proved an apt theme at the school last week, with an abundance of talented guests – authors, journalists, poets, and illustrators – arriving to tell their tales.
Among the many renowned visitors was author Archie Fusillo who flew interstate from Melbourne to attend.
The week aimed to connect students with experts and develop their literary skills – but it did more than this for 14-year-old Georgia Trundle.
Georgia’s fantasy became reality when she met Karen Brooks, the writer of her favourite novel called It’s Time Cassandra Klein.
Award winning author Rebecca Sparrow said she had never seen a school literature event so big.
Library and Information Services Co-ordinator Chris Jeppesen said: “It’s been exhausting, but it was absolutely fabulous.”
Others involved in the Literature Week included: authors Nick Earl and James Maloney, illustrators Stephen Axelsen and John Danalis. journalist Frances Whiting, short-story writer Jonathan Harlen, African storyteller Simon M’Zungu, and haiku master Ross Clark.
