THE St Vincent de Paul Society in Queensland has elected John Campbell as its new state president.
Mr Campbell was elected on February 24 at the society’s state council meeting.
He said he was thrilled to take on the challenging and exciting position with St Vincent de Paul.
Mr Campbell joined the St Francis of Assisi Conference in West End in 1999 and was inducted in 2000.
In 2002, he was appointed vice-president and state council secretary as well as chair of the Queensland Homelessness and Mental Health Committee and the Queensland representative on the National Homelessness and Mental Health Committee.
Mr Campbell’s key focus during his tenure as president will be to contribute to the ongoing development of the society through attention to spirituality of the society to ensure St Vincent de Paul follows its mission to “… to deepen the Catholic faith of its members – to go out into the nation to heighten awareness of Jesus Christ”.
Mr Campbell replaces Michael McKeown who stepped down after three and a half years as president.
