TWO women, who shared the same dream to serve God and the needy, professed their final vows to the Canossian Daughters of Charity on January 27 in Brisbane.
Sr Patricia Ann Surawski and Sr Maria Vu Thi Ngoc My made their final profession in front of Archbishop John Bathersby of Brisbane and fellow sisters, family and friends during a Mass at the Canossa Chapel at Oxley.
Sr My’s journey to religious life began in Vietnam in 1965.
In 1992 she arrived in Sydney where, for the first three years, she studied English.
Sr Surawski was born in Toowoomba, the second of four children to Patrick and Patricia Surawski, in 1963.
In 1999 she entered the novitiate, with two others, among them Sr My.
In his homily, Brisbane Archbishop John Bathersby congratulated the parents and families of the two young women for educating them in the faith long before they ever received formal education.
He also congratulated the Canossian Sisters for inspiring the young women and leading them along the path of service to God.
