THOUSANDS of Queenslanders, young and old, took to the streets of Brisbane’s CBD recently to march behind a large banner with the simple message, “Pro-life equals Pro-woman”.
The crowd, estimated at about 2000 to 2500, was participating in the annual March for Life on April 22.
Cherish Life executive officer Matthew Cliff said the main focus this year “was to essentially educate and equip people on pro-life issues as well as raising awareness about anti-life legislation”.
“Furthermore, of course, (it was about) being a voice for those who cannot speak for themselves,” Mr Cliff said.
“We were delighted with the event.

“The turnout was fantastic, and it was another great opportunity for Cherish Life to educate and equip individuals on pro-life issues.”
The crowd for a rally at Speakers Corner outside Queensland Parliament House before taking to the streets.
Speakers included Dr Joanna Howe, Professor of Law at the University of Adelaide; Wendy Francis, of Australian Christian Lobby; Queensland Senator Matt Canavan; and former senator Amanda Stoker.
Mr Cliff said Do Howe’s speech was a rousing one.
She spoke on a range of pro-life issues, from statistics on abortion numbers to “heartbreaking abortion testimonies”.

Ms Francis highlighted the reality of abortions happening because of unborn children being diagnosed with Down syndrome.
Senator Canavan’s speech raised awareness about the Human Rights (Children Born Alive Protection) Bill which he has supported in the Senate.
The goal of this bill is to ensure that a child who is born alive because of a failed abortion procedure is entitled to the same level of medical care and treatment as any other newborn child.
Ms Stoker spoke on the value of motherhood and the equality for the unborn.
