TWO thousand people braved “threatening weather” to attend the Corpus Christi Eucharistic Procession at Nudgee Junior College, Indooroopilly, last weekend.
Bishop Brian Finnigan led the procession with Jesus Christ in the Blessed Sacrament around the school oval.
During the procession, the Rosary was led in English and Latin, as well as in various other languages such as Spanish, Vietnamese and Korean.
The Samoan community sang a medley of praises after the Repose of the Blessed Sacrament.
Jesuit Father Gregory Jordan, one of the 20 priests who joined in the procession, said “it was a joy for all who attended”.
“It was another great celebration of Christ’s gift to us of his Real Presence in the sacrament,” he said.
“The weather providentially held off during the procession.”
Fr Jordan thanked Josie Mangano, who was unable to attend, at the close of the procession.
“Her role should never be forgotten,” he said.
Mrs Mangano came up with the original idea for a Eucharistic procession more than 10 years ago.
