FOR the first time, Brisbane archdiocese is taking the Christian message of Easter to shopping centres, through an advertising poster campaign aimed at reaching non-churchgoers.
The archdiocese has booked a total of 20 sites in four shopping centres to display the poster, comprising a mosaic of pictures which, when viewed from a distance, show the face of the crucified Christ.
The message at the bottom of the poster is: “Let us not lose sight of Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2).
Brisbane Archbishop John Bathersby said it was important that the significance of the Easter celebrations was communicated to people as they went about their daily lives.
“Shopping centres are popular gathering places where people shop for their weekly groceries, meet their friends, share a meal or go to the movies.
“Our aim is that people will recognise that the life of Jesus Christ, his death and resurrection at Easter, bring hope to all people.”
The posters went up on March 19 at Westfield Indooroopilly, Chermside and Carindale shopping centres in Brisbane and Pacific Fair on the Gold Coast. They will remain on display until after Easter.
