STUDENTS from St Bernardine’s Primary School, Regents Park gave peace a hand on March 21.
As part of the school’s Harmony Day celebrations, all 625 students coloured their hands with paint and placed them on a poster with the message ‘We Pray for Peace’.
The poster was erected on the school’s fence facing the Mt Lindsay Highway.
Marjorie Mould, who is assistant principal – religious education at the school, said the children went to the school’s top oval after prayers for peace and harmony in our world.
Ms Mould said the children were then invited to tie an orange ribbon, the colour for Harmony Day, on the fence surrounding the poster.
She said they also invited the community to support their prayer and attach an orange ribbon to the fence.
Principal Richard Grajczonek said the poster was not supposed to be a political message.
‘It is just part of our ongoing commitment to peace,’ he said.
