NOOSA Parish welcomed Archbishop Mark Coleridge on September 18 to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with 80 young people include 11 teenagers who have been preparing for this sacred moment.
The parish sacramental team under parish worker Maria Higginson facilitated the Confirmation preparation.
Parents and students worked together to learn about the significance of this sacrament, the coming of the Holy Spirit.
“Many teachers from St Thomas More Parish School have also assisted in the preparation of these children,” a spokesman said.
“It demonstrates the close and important links between family, parish and school.
“It is said that it takes a ‘Village to raise a child’ and this is an example of this in action. This program concludes our busy time of Children and Family Sacramental Preparation for 2014.
“Some 253 young children and young people have received the Sacraments of Penance, Communion and Confirmation.
“We have also had 79 Baptisms for 2014 thus far at all our four parish Churches bringing the total up to 332 young people initiated into the Church.”
