A DARRA-JINDALEE parishioner is trying to forge a link between Brisbane children and the 13 million children aged under 14 who live in Iraq.
Sana Mammo is co-ordinating the production of a CD comprising five songs as a gift from the children of Brisbane to the children of Iraq.
She said the Kidz2Kidz CD would contain only songs of peace from material supplied by children at three Brisbane schools.
The songs will be sung by a choir comprising children from Middle Park State School, Yeronga State School and Moorooka State School.
‘By the time it is all finished about 200 children will be involved.
‘Four of the songs will be in English and one will be sung in Arabic.’
Ms Mammo said the last song was still being written and production was due in September with the launch of the CD scheduled for October.
She said the CD was the start of a process aimed at bringing together the two countries’ children.
The second stage would be the production of a DVD about the children on the CD and eventually e-mail contact between the children in Iraq and Brisbane once language problems were overcome.
