RAINBOWS are a rare sight these days – but not at St Catherine’s Primary School, Wishart.
With the official opening and blessing of their newly built Laboure Library on May 16, students can now witness the colourful, curvy treat every time they borrow a book.
Arching across the building’s walls are vibrant yellows, oranges, greens, purples and blues.
Library teacher Monique Hegarty said the unique rainbow-themed murals had a deep significance for the school.
“It incorporates the Genesis story where Noah was given a rainbow as a symbol of God’s faithfulness to his people.”
The new building has a private cushioned reading area and a courtyard out front.
It also incorporates modern technology; with 15 Apple computers and a plasma screen TV.
Year 5 student Briahna Cumming is one of the children who will be spending more time in the library.
She said it was “a refreshing place… the best library in the world!”
