MORE than 25 years after coming to set up the Cenacle Retreat Centre at Ormiston, Sr Kathleen Ryan and her Cenacle Sisters are preparing for an emotional farewell from Brisbane’s bayside.
The sisters will host a farewell at the retreat centre on August 13 from 2pm-5pm.
Sr Ryan said it would be an opportunity for anyone who has been involved with the centre to say goodbye.
Brisbane archdiocese has bought the centre from the sisters and plans to develop an archdiocesan spirituality centre.
The archdiocese plans to launch new programs in spirituality in 2007.
The sisters’ decision to leave has been made after facing the reality of their age and declining health while trying to respond to apostolic needs beyond their personnel resources.
Sr Ryan said the sisters would return to New Zealand.
The Cenacle Retreat Centre is at 267 Wellington St, Ormiston.
