MUSIC and bright lights flowed from Dutton Park’s parish hall, welcoming young faithful of all ages to gather and celebrate the launch of Rising Youth Ministries on Saturday, April 27.
Rising Youth Ministry youth leader David Bobis said there were about 180 official registrants.
The event was catered to young people aged five to 25 and packed full of live music, speakers, good food, free giveaways and group activities.
“The purpose is to really bring the youth back and spread the message all over Brisbane,” Mr Bobis said.
“It’s really a community of conversion.
“We’ve seen numerous conversions to Catholicism through the powerful healings and miracles that have been happening in this ministry.
“We plan to spread that kind of strength and power of the Holy Spirit.”
Mr Bobis said there was a push in the parish towards “falling in love with Christ”.
“There’s something powerful about what we’re about to do,” he said.
Parish priest Capuchin Father Lam Vu was at the event too enjoying the festivities.
He said the launch had been a long-time in the making.
And from the smiling faces of the children and their excited cheers heard, it was more than worth the wait.
With so many young people in attendance, the planned broader talks were instead broken up into five age groups, where more age-specific talks and activities took place.
Rising Youth Ministry’s youth leaders Anna LeTran, Dominic Chui and Mr Bobis, as well as Awaken founder and head of Rising Youth Ministry Steffanie Le led the groups.
The talks ranged from the power of prayer to the promise of the Holy Spirit.
