BRISBANE street kids have some new friends who want to make their life more comfortable.
Sisters-in-law Jann Simmonds and Ellen Bray have adopted a Canadian scheme which provides kindness and caring for the homeless.
Ellen said the idea involved filling a backpack with items that would show the young person on the street that someone cared.
She said the Canadian scheme was called Angels with Backpacks.
Ellen said they had called the Brisbane packs Comfort for Kids, and each was filled with “comforts” such as a blanket, clean underwear, toiletries, socks, transport passes, packaged food or sweets.
She said she hoped schools, individuals or parishes would nominate a school term and then donate packs on an annual basis to give the project momentum.
