KEN Huynh loves Christmas Carols night.
The Vietnamese Catholic Community has put on carols nights for many years.
It attracted thousands of people each year to the lawns of the community’s centre in Inala, and this year Mr Huynh hoped it would bring the people back together after COVID.
He said listening to the carols always lifted his spirits.
“Most of our songs are in Vietnamese,” he said.
“Occasionally if we have a young group they might sing in English, and we welcome that too. We welcome everyone at Christmas.”
The food stalls with authentic Vietnamese food were always popular, he said.
His favourite dish around Christmas time was pho, a flavoursome noodle dish.
He said his favourite part about the night was seeing his community members who were ordinarily spread across Brisbane and the Gold Coast coming together as one family.
“The kids love it,” Mr Hyuyn said.
People of all ages came for the live music, food and fireworks, he said.
The carols night also reminded him of the true meaning of Christmas.
“We are so busy during the whole year, so Christmas is a time for me to reflect back, slow down and have a look at what I’ve been doing and prepare myself for the coming of our Lord Jesus,” he said.
“I love it because I look forward to prepare myself to receive Jesus.”
The Vietnamese Catholic Community’s Christmas Carols night will be held on December 18 at its community centre in Inala.
