MAC Rogers, 18, broke the Guinness World Record for most muscle-ups completed on gymnastic rings within a 24-hour period at St Leo’s College, St Lucia.
The previous record of 1,136 was surpassed yesterday at 12:25pm at St Leo’s College, where Mr Rogers resides.
The full 24-hour time-period officially ended at 2:27pm with a record 1308 muscle-ups.
Muscle-ups are a demanding exercise that combines elements of both pull-ups and dips, requiring exceptional upper body strength and co-ordination.
Having previously broken the Guinness World Record for most ring muscle ups in an hour (in 2021) and most in eight hours (in 2022), Mr Rogers was determined to beat the existing record previously held by a UK resident.
“I was really grateful for the way the community got behind me,” he said.
“The result is extremely gratifying… it hasn’t really sunk yet, in to be honest. It feels awesome that this achievement was able to support the great work of a collection of charities.”
Mr Roger’s growing list of accomplishments are nothing short of remarkable, he was 2022’s school captain and dux at Proserpine State High School.
He was recently awarded Whitsunday Regional Council’s 2023 Young Citizen of the Year and is part of the Queensland Academy of Sport talent identification program for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
St Leo’s Head of College, Steve Foley, was delighted for the opportunity to host this extraordinary challenge on college grounds.
“What a tremendous effort,” he said.
“Mac is living Leo’s values, living the Leo’s way of life – striving for excellence with humility and connectedness.”
Members of the public can show their support by donating via Mac’s official fundraising page where supporters can nominate which of Mr Roger’s chosen charities – Beyond Blue, Cancer Council Queensland, DVConnect and St Leo’s College – they would like to donate to.
He hopes that this record-breaking experience will inspire others to push their own boundaries and strive for greatness in their respective personal fields.
He said through hard work, discipline, and a relentless pursuit of one’s goals, anything is possible.
